JOHN 2:11

What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.

This is the first of Jesus’ miracles documented in the Gospels. Amongst other reasons, Jesus was showing his disciples that he was God, the Messiah and demonstrates the power of the Kingdom of God. He was doing a selling job on his disciples.

Like all kids growing up, I was continually asking “why this”, “why that”. This led me to study science at university. I was trained in the scientific process. This involves observation, and applying rigorous scepticism about what is observed.

As I travel on my faith journey, the value of miracles looms higher on my issues of importance. In the end, the Gospels helped me to overcome my reservations – there was more than one witness to this miracle. All Jesus' disciples saw what he did. With minor differences they all recorded what they saw. I believe in what they witnessed.

Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for coming to us in human form and showing us the Glory of the Kingdom of God.
