ROMANS 12:1-2

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

TO PONDER

Offer your bodies as living sacrifices, what does this mean? A sacrifice was offered to God in order to please Him. We can do this when we offer our lives to Him and allow Him to direct us in the ways He wants us to go. Does this mean we should all be pastors, or missionaries?? I don’t think so. God wants us to offer our lives to Him, in every circumstance we are in. We are called to be in the world and to do everything we do for God’s glory. As this verse says, this means we will be living in a way that is different to the world around us. We are supposed to live lives that look different, and in this way point others to Jesus, not ourselves. So, let’s daily offer our bodies, our lives, our dreams and our aspirations to God and ask Him to use these for His glory, to point those around us to Himself.

PRAYER

Jesus, thank you that you call me to join with you in pointing others to God. I know that I fall short of this mission day after day, but I also know that you consistently forgive me, set me back on my feet and gently guide me back to the right path. Help me to offer my life to you each day. In your name I pray, Amen.
