EPHESIANS 3:6

This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.

TO PONDER

Have you ever been a member of a club? Maybe one with a membership card, or a uniform. Maybe as a child you had a club with a secret password or handshake that granted members access to the secret clubhouse. Being a member of the club gives a sense of belonging, of being a part of something bigger than yourself. However, the nature of membership means there are inevitably people who are excluded. God chose the Israelites, at the time of Abraham, to be His chosen people. When His people were suffering in slavery in Egypt God did miraculous things to set them free. With the death and resurrection of Jesus that membership was available to all people (Gentiles) not just God’s chosen people (Israel). We are Gentiles and we are heirs, members and sharers in the promises of Jesus. We are one body, working together to do the work of God. What a wonderful gift of promise!

PRAYER: Jesus, thank you that through your amazing gift of grace the way has been made clear for me to become part of God’s family, His body. I pray that you help me to do my part and to share the wonderful gifts a life with you brings, that others may understand the mystery of your grace and see themselves as part of your family too, Amen.
