Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.

A few weeks ago I watched a documentary which involved one of my favourite Australian Comedians, Adam Hills. Apart from being a comedian, Adam is also knows for his work championing people with disabilities and disability services as he has a prosthetic foot/lower leg himself. In his recent documentary called, "Take His Legs", Adam got behind the beginnings of a Physical Disability Rugby League (PDRL) competition in the UK. He joined up with his local PDRL team, began playing with them, and together they topped the PDRL Competition in the UK and so they came out to Australia to take on the top Australian PDRL team. What was remarkable about these people wasn't their disabilities, or how they had overcome them (although many of those stories were also inspiring), but the sense of purpose and unity that existed between them. As individuals, they all had issues with different parts of their bodies; yet as a team they came together as a well oiled machine, each player aware of the strenghts and vulnerabilities of the others and playing in such a way as to bring the best out of everyone. This is what the church of God should be like too. We all have a role to play in the body of Christ. Part of that role is to strengthen and support the other parts in carrying out their role in working toward the common goal of bringing glory to God and sharing his hope with all.

Heavenly Father, you know that I am full of weaknesses, yet in your mercy you have given me a Christian community to support and encourage me. Help us at LifeWay and all Christians around the world, to work together to bing the hope, love, and life of Jesus to a dark and despairing world. Amen
