We believe in one true God
We share the belief of all other Christians that the one true God has made himself known as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe that God loves all people
We believe that God loves every human being, even though none of us deserve his love. We believe that God’s deepest desire is to live in an intimate relationship with all people.
We believe in Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is God’s Son. Because he loves the world, God sent his Son Jesus to make things right between God and us. Jesus took the blame for the sins of all people. Jesus died for everybody. Jesus also broke the power of death by becoming alive again. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Through him and him alone can people enter into a relationship with God.
We believe in the Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the presence of Jesus Christ among us. The Holy Spirit always points us to the person and work of Jesus Christ. The Spirit empowers us and lives in us and equips us for service as his people. The Spirit gives gifts to all believers. We believe in all the gifts of the Spirit and encourage people to grow in using those gifts for the building up of his people.
We believe God’s forgiveness is a free gift
Because of Jesus, God has forgiven all sins of all people. God offers his forgiveness to everyone as a free gift. We don’t have to earn God’s forgiveness or pay for it. It is ours when we believe in Jesus as our Saviour. God offers us his forgiveness in the good news about Jesus, and through the Sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion.
We believe in the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion
We believe in and practice the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion. We believe that through the waters of Baptism, God comes to us to adopt us as His children. Through Baptism, God gives us the gift of new life. We believe in infant baptism.
We believe that in the Lord’s Supper, Jesus’ body and blood are truly present in the bread and wine to bring us forgiveness of sins and life, now and forever. It is God’s unmistakable way of saying again and again, ‘I am for you – for sure!’
We believe what the Bible says
The Bible is the word of God. Through it, God reveals himself to us. The entire Bible is God-breathed and God-inspired. So we accept the Bible as the authority that decides what we are to believe and how we should live. We believe that the good news about Jesus is the key to the whole Bible.
We affirm the Lutheran Confessions
We affirm and identify with the confessions of the Lutheran Church. We affirm the centrality of grace alone, faith alone, and Word alone.
We believe in the Church
We believe that the church, be it a local congregation or the worldwide fellowship of believers, is the body of Christ. As His Body, we are called to worship Him, serve Him and be the vehicle through which the Good News in its fullness is shared with the world.
We believe in the worth and dignity of human beings
Created in God’s image, humans have dignity. Their worth is dependent not on accomplishments, but on God’s love. Because God sees humanity as worth dying for, we affirm and acknowledge the dignity of humans.
At the same time we acknowledge that humanity is separated from God because of sin. We joyfully proclaim the Good News that because of Jesus Christ, forgiveness is available. It is that forgiveness that restores fallen humanity’s worth.
We believe that Christ will return
We believe in and anticipate the return of Jesus Christ. Though we don’t know the day or hour, we joyfully proclaim His soon return to inspire all people to make the most of living, sharing and growing today.
