For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

Reconciliation. If our own national history in Australia has taught us anything, it is that reconciliation is not an easy process. When people are hurt and wronged, forgiveness does not always flow easily. Instead we want justice or revenge, we are not usually interested in fixing the broken relationship between us and those who have deeply hurt or betrayed us. That's the incredible thing about God, he is holy and righteous, he did not let sin go unpunished but dealt the punishment and justice for all our sin to himself. He did this for us, the very ones who had caused the problem in the first place. He did this so we could be reconciled. Reconciliation is not easy, God lay down his own life in order for us to be reconciled to himself, but he picked it up again so that we might live. How does your new life show that you are reconciled with God?

Heavenly Father, thank you that I can come to you in prayer because you have restored the relationship between us through the death and resurrection of Jesus. Please help me to value all the relationships I have with others and to use those relationships to help others become reconciled with you as well. Amen
