The Lord has heard my cry for mercy; the Lord accepts my prayer.

Have you ever wondered if God is really listening to our prayers? Does it sometimes just feel like God has disappeared? There are certainly plenty of psalmists who wonder why God appears to have gone silent in their lives. You might have heard people speak about prayer as if God only listens to those who live "good" lives or pray a particular way. It is true that the Bible tells us the prayers of a righteous person are powerful and effective, but our righteousness does not come from within ourselves. This is why we can be confident that God hears our cries for mercy. This is how we know he accepts our prayers, because we are clothed with the righteousness of Christ. Jesus' righteousness gives us access to a heavenly Father who promises to hear and help us. So pray confidently knowing God is listening because Jesus died for you.

Heavenly Father, thank you for enabling me to become your child, through Jesus death and resurrection. Make me always more confident in your love for me. Amen
