2 Timothy 1:5

I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.

Most of us have a person who comes to mind when we think about who has been influential in our faith journey. For those of us who grew up in the church it may have been our parents or a family member. For those who came to faith later in life, maybe it was a friend, a teacher or youth leader or maybe someone else entirely. The point I'm trying to make here is that it is very rare for someone to spontaneously come to faith in Jesus without having some kind of interaction with other Christians. Even if that interaction happened years before their eventual coming to faith, most people can think of someone who influenced their journey into God's family. We are all Christ's ambassadors, the way we interact with and care about others is a powerful influence on the lives of others both inside and outside of the church. So, the question to think about today is whether your life of faith looks like that of Lois and Eunice who through their loving and caring relationships, passed on the faith to Timothy, or do your relationships need more of the love and compassion of Jesus Christ so that those whose lives you encounter during the day might remember you as a person who influenced their journey into God's Kingdom?

Lord Jesus, thank you for all those people who have faithfully helped direct me to faith in you. Please help me today, to live a life which points people to you. May my words and actions bring glory to you and leave no doubt in those around me that you, Lord, are my saviour and friend. Amen
